Week 2 News
I really enjoyed getting to meet all of you during our first week of class 🙂 Thank you for your participation in our classroom activities and discussion–let’s keep it up!
As the semester heats up, I hope you keep in mind our discussion about growth mindset and remember that when you feel your mind being challenged (whether it’s from a difficult assignment or just figuring out the whole college thing) that your brain is changing to become more adept at handling things like a boss. In other words, you got this!
Office Hours
I will be canceling my office hour from 2-3 this Friday to attend a meeting. I will be available to meet after class and potentially at other time this week (please reach out if you need to meet!). My office hour from 11-12 on Friday still stands. Next week, my schedule should return to normal.
Reminder
Remember that your first journal is due 9/3 by midnight on Bb (or to my email, mary.hood@tamucc.edu). I encourage you to try the Bb route because after the first journal, we will exclusively use Bb to submit these types of assignments.
POLS Textbook
If you’ve had difficulties acquiring your textbook for POLS or using Mindtap, please see the following announcement from Dr. Huerta:
Many students have successfully set up MindTap accounts. Recall that even if students have not been able to purchase the book, all students can sign up with the complimentary 2 weeks of free access.
These are responses to the most common questions I’ve been asked by those who have not yet signed up for MindTap (with access to the e-book):
- Bookstore doesn’t have the book in stock yet. Even if the bookstore does not have the book, you can access the e-book by creating a mindtap account and selecting the option to pay later.
- MindTap won’t open. You must disable your popup blocker so it allows popups.
- I don’t have a course key. You won’t need a coursekey if you access MindTap via our Blackboard page. Simply click on the link for Chapter 1 and it will take you to MindTap
Campus Events
Finally, I encourage you to check out TAMUCC’s Hispanic Heritage Month activities. There are *so* many cool events that offer opportunities to meet people outside of class and enjoy music, poetry, panels, films, mural painting, and so much more!
That’s all for now. I look forward to seeing you in class!
