Lesson Plan for Tuesday, September 17, 2019
MEET OUR PEER MENTOR!
We will be meeting our Peer Mentor for this class, Elizabeth Cummins. A Peer Mentor is a student at TAMUCC who works with the Peer Mentor program in CASA. Peer Mentors work with Seminar classes to offer additional tips for making the transition from high school to college a smooth one.
Elizabeth will be working closely with us and attending our Seminar classes on Tuesday as her schedule and workload allow. She will help us with classroom activities and discussions about being a successful college student. She will also be in regular contact with our class via email to keep us abreast of campus activities.
POLS Exam Review
Review of exam tips and instructions.
From Dr. Huerta’s Blackboard:
Exam 1 is 9/19/2019. Please read the following to prepare.
- Exam Day Instructions
- On Exam Day enter the classroom ONLY from the first-floor entrance
- Scantrons are provided. Bring #2 pencils and an eraser
- Students may bring one page of notes for the exam.
- Notes must be handwritten (no copies of another student’s notes) and must fit on one 8.5×11 inch piece of paper.
- Students may write notes on both sides of the paper.
- The page of notes must be turned in with the completed exam.
- This file has the complete set of Exam Day Instructions. Read and understand the instructions. Exam Guidelines.pdf
- Exam Tips
- These tips are only for students who have studied.
- Seek to understand the material, and not simply memorize it. One would never memorize answers for a math test.
- Explain material to a study partner.
- Use the flashcards in MindTap or make flashcards. Be able to both know the definition of a term, and know the name of a term when the definition is read to you.
- Read the question carefully.
- Use the process of elimination to eliminate incorrect answers.
- Do not talk oneself out of correct answers. If you think an answer is correct, and you’re talking yourself into another answer, go with the answer you think is correct.
- Remember that there must be incorrect answers. If some answer options do not make any sense to you, that probably means it is an incorrect answer.
What do you think will be on the test?
