Hello and welcome to Week 11!
First-Year Symposium
First-Year Symposium is just around the corner! It will take place on November 21.
From now until November 21, we will be gearing up for First-Year Symposium. I will explain what Symposium is all about during class, so please be sure to attend class.

Reacting through Writing assignment due by 11:59 pm on Bb:
Read this article about LULAC vs. Richards. After reading it, react to the article by writing a response to the following prompts in an essay format, not to exceed 2 doubled spaced pages, in essay format:
- Explain the issues that are introduced in the article.
- What is the evidence the authors provide to support their viewpoints? What is your evaluation of their evidence?
- Did learning about the experiences of those in South Texas that did not have access to higher education lead to any adjustments in your attitudes or beliefs? Why or why not?
- How does this article connect to what you’ve learned in POLS 2306?
Reaction due by 11:59 PM, 11/7/2019. Assignment is worth 20 points.
Students who respond to all prompts will receive full credit (20 points). Students responding to some, but not all, prompts receive 1/2 credit (10 points). Students not taking the assignment seriously or not completing the assignment receive no credit (0 points).
Registration
Registration for first-year students is now open. Please register for Spring 2020 if you haven’t already done so.
VIP advisor Shannon Chambers will be visiting our Seminar class on Thursday, November 7. Please bring your laptops if you’d like her assistance with registration.
November 8 is the last day to drop a class.
