Monday, March 16 – Sunday, March 22: Extended Spring Break
My department is still in conversation about how to handle the rest of the semester in light of health experts’ pleas for social distancing to flatten the curve of COVID-19.
As you’ve heard by now, all of our remaining course will take place online. I will be in touch with you once I have updated class plans and more info from my supervisors. For now, here’s what I do know:
- The health and wellness of students, faculty, and staff is the University’s top priority. All decisions being made are with that in mind, so please have patience while we scramble to adjust 🙂
- Our next priorities are finishing the semester on time so that your degree plans can proceed without complication and continuing to further your learning in a meaningful way.
- I will be just as available (if not more) to your emails, questions, concerns, etc. After this week, I will still maintain my “office hours” during which time we may video conference if needed. (Given that I will be home all. the. time, we can coordinate an online meeting outside of my regularly scheduled hours quite easily.
- Once the semester is up and running again (online), I am here to help in any way possible even if your questions don’t pertain to our learning community. I may not know the answers immediately, but there’s a good chance I’ll know who to ask!
- Also, if you find yourself struggling with working from home, staying motivated, or processing everything going on right now, you are more than welcome to reach out to me.
- You have nothing due in Seminar this week. Enjoy your time at home/out of class as much as possible. Keep an eye out for updates.
- Dr. Pool will also release an updated class plan this week including alternate assignments to replace the concert reviews.
- I realize the possibility of “going online” sounds potentially chaotic (and I feel the same!), but my own anxiety is eased a bit by knowing that with TAMUCC, we‘re in very capable hands. I say that not from school pride but from my experience of working here for 6 years 🙂
- Bottom line: Nothing due in Seminar the week of March 16. Stay tuned for updates—all departments on campus are working to figure things out. I’m here if you have any questions. Take care!
